SOMOS Foods
SOMOS celebrates the Mexican heritage of its 3 founders and aims to bring a new level of authenticity to an otherwise bland food category in the US. They wanted a mobile-first e-commerce website that led with vibrant visuals and fun user interactions.
To do this, we pulled inspiration from Mexican artesanía, taquerías, rotulos, and architecture to create a bright, welcoming, and playful website that combines shoppability with education on authentic recipes and culture. Fun elements, like a module showing weather in Mexican cities that encourages a spontaneous vacation, a countdown to Taco Tuesday, and a “did you know?” fact generator, show that SOMOS is here to serve a side of culture with its delicious food. This website was featured in Shogun’s “Best Storefronts” round up shortly after launching.

The images we created needed to be appetizing and vibrant to stand out from the noise of competitors and live up to the visuals of the SOMOS brand. We used colorful and authentically Mexican textiles, dishes, and props to create sophisticated and mouth watering imagery to be used on the website and social media. We continue to work with Mexican photographers and food stylists whenever possible to create the most authentic settings for future digital content.
